Rajeev Subramanian

Rajeev Subramanian is the founder of Shift UX, an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, a professional development partner at Bentley University and an established product design leader and consultant.

His path into the field was not a straight one. He graduated from Georgetown with a degree in computer science and spent his early career in sales, marketing, and a series of roles that had nothing obvious to do with where he'd end up. This included a stretch running an events and hospitality business and an equity stake in a Washington, D.C. bar. He came into the design field at age 34, going back to school for a graduate degree while working, and fell into the discipline in an unexpected way.

Across more than two decades he has been laid off four times, navigated more contracts and transitions than he can easily count, and worked inside organizations ranging from early-stage startups to some of the largest names in enterprise technology. The history of reinventions, referrals that changed his trajectory, and the managers who saw something in him before he saw it himself is the reason this book exists.

Through Shift UX, he now coaches designers, researchers, and product professionals through the same repositioning work he once had to figure out on his own. He lives in McLean, Virginia with his wife, two kids and pet dog.
